SPAN 102 This course is designed to introduce you to the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures, and to develop all your language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing (syllabus page #5). The instructor will speak Spanish the majority of the time. You may use English only when absolutely necessary (syllabus page #6). Required texts: ¡Dímelo tú! [textbook] Rodríguez, Samaniego, Blommers, 6th Ed. ¡Dímelo tú! [Electronic Workbook: iLrn, included in package] Rodríguez et al. SPAN weeks ClassNotes.

In this course: one day = 2 absences! Be carefull!
SPAN 102 Attendance Five allowed 50 minutes absences (any reason). Missing 1 day of classes equals two absences. Use them wisely! Each absence = 0 in the Oral Proficiency Card Sixth absence and every subsequent absence = -2% from the Final Overall Course Grade. Late arrivals are not allowed. Two late arrivals = 1 absence. Electronic devices are not allowed during the class. Deadlines are strictly important. No late assignments will be accepted.

Only Spanish Absence = 0 that day If you are in class but you are not prepared and/or do not participate = 0 that day The use of cellphones or laptops during class = 0 The grades take into account (but are not limited to) 1. How much you use Spanish in class 2. How well you use Spanish in class 3. Your preparation 4. Your cooperation during group and pair work 5.
