4 The Nuremberg Trials The Nuremberg Trials were held to try and punish those guilty of the following crimes: Crimes against peace: involved the preparation and initiation of a war of aggression War crimes: included murder, ill treatment, and deportation Crimes against humanity: included political, racial, and religious persecution of civilians (including genocide)

Objective: You will learn about the Nuremberg Trials and determine: What was the purpose of the Nuremberg Trials? Did the punishments fit the crimes? Activity: You will read the information on the Nuremberg Trials and complete the question sheet.

6 Exit Ticket If you were able to decide how these war criminals would be tried and punished, what would YOU have done. How would you have handled the war criminals? One paragraph minimum.
