7 Step 1: How do I sign up? Create an account. Go to Click Sign up. Complete the form and click Create Account. Minimize the page and open the account you submitted. Click the Confirm Account button in the confirmation .

Step 2: How do I start building Selected Works? Choose a URL (note it cannot be changed.) Enter up to three research disciplines, your institution, position and title (these will help search engines categorize you for users.) 3. Once finished Click Go. You now have a profile. Make sure to save your passcode, username and URL.

Click on the Profile Menu located on the top right of your main page. From the list click Account Settings. Under Account Settings you can update your picture, login and/ or password.

3. Under Account Settings ensure that all of your work is collected to your profile by adding any other name aliases or addresses used for your published works. Click Set as Preferred for the profile you want applied automatically to all new uploads. You will find two options that keep you informed about your readership and the academic impact of your work. Remember to click save. Control whether your profile is public or hidden. Hide your profile during your initial set up.

11 Step 4: How do I stipulate who can edit my profile?
1. From the Profile Menu click Access Management Students and Faculty members at UCF have three assigned institutional administrators.

Step 5 How do I edit my profile? From the Profile Menu click SelectedWorks. Clicking SelectedWorks will always take you to your main profile page.

Step 6 How do I start importing academic works? Click the Works tab. This is the most important section of your profile where you will upload your academic productions.

Step 6 How do I start importing academic works? To begin the process, click on Add Work, where you will find multiple options Upload a File. -Add a Link Add Metadata. -Import Works from Digital Commons or STARS Select from MY SW Drive.

Step 6 How do I start importing academic works? Initial page varies according to the type of work you input. The additional information requested is consistent. A. Select the type of work. Two main categories Research Works and Teaching Works.

Step 6 How do I start importing academic works? B. Provide more detailed information about the nature of your work. Be strategic. Keywords and disciplines you select will be used by search engines to help users find your research.

Not ready to post your work to your profile yet? -Save a draft on your MY SW Drive Click the Profile Menu and click on MY SW Drive You can save drafts, post new material, and update posted works.

Step 7 How do I keep track of my readership? To check downloads. Access the Profile Menu and click on Author Dashboard. Information: -Downloads -Referrers Broken Down By: -Institution -Country There are multiple ways of keeping track of your readership. Doing this is crucial for your career it helps you measure the impact and contributions your work makes in the field.

Step 7 How do I keep track of my readership? Click on the bell icon next to the profile menu to access your Notification Center Click on Follow Management Tool from the Profile Menu. At the notification center all activities are tracked and listed in chronological order. The number of all unread notifications is noted on the icon. On follow management you can keep track of general readership and user trends within your respective disciplines.

1. Click on the Works section to organize and access your works. Utilize standard categories or create your own by clicking on Mange Display Categories.

A. It will take you to the screen below where you can label your own categories and include short descriptions. B. Be Strategic! Display categories and descriptions are indexed within major search engines.

2. Click on Jump to Category to view works according to category: 3. After upload, users can view and edit details about individual works. A. To do so click on the desired work; you will be directed to:

4. Under the subtitle Disciplines is a hyperlink that directs users to the respective Commons. A. Commons are assigned according to the disciplines users select when characterizing works. It is important for academics to be hyperaware of their work’s standing in relation to the larger canon.
