Atrial fibrillation Gender Incidence greater in males Mortality greater in females Hypertension Smoking Diabetes mellitus Arterial disease Carotid, peripheral, coronary Lifestyle diet, exercise Besides age are hypertension and smoking the morst important risk factors.

Subarachnoid 4% The diagnosis to differ between ischemic stroke and hemorraghic stroke must be made as soon as possible by computertomography. MHT is a risk factor for ischemic stroke.
