David, Uzzah and the Ark of the Covenant
2 Samuel 6: Chronicles 13:1-14

David, Uzzah, and the Ark 2 Samuel 6; 1 Chronicles 13
Lessons to learn: God wants us to approach our service to Him with a high degree of reverence and godly fear. Heb12:28-29 Just because we say we’re sincere in our efforts to please God doesn’t mean He is pleased. Acts 23:1 We are to obey God, not expect Him to bless what we have already set our minds to do. 1Sam 15:22; Hos 6:6; Mic 6:6-8 Just because something seems good to us does not mean it is God’s WILL or the way He wants it done. Prov 16:25 We like to see our ways as pure – Prov 16:2 We like to justify our choices – Prov 21:2 God wants us to approach our service to Him with a high degree of reverence and godly fear. Hebrews 12:28-29 ( NKJV ) 28Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29For our God is a consuming fire. Just because we say we’re sincere in our efforts to please God doesn’t mean that He is pleased. Acts 23:1 ( NKJV ) 1Then Paul, looking earnestly at the council, said, “Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.” We are to obey God, not expect Him to bless what we have already set our minds to do. (David led his people in the way that seemed good to him, and then expected God to be pleased to follow HIM.) 1 Samuel 15:22-23 ( KJV ) 22And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. Hosea 6:6 ( KJV ) 6For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Micah 6:6-8 ( NKJV ) 6 With what shall I come before the Lord, And bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, With calves a year old? 7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Just because something seems good and right to us does not mean that it is God’s WILL or the way He wants it done. Proverbs 16:25 ( NKJV ) 25 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. We like to see our ways as pure – Proverbs 16:2 ( NKJV ) 2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the spirits. We like to justify our choices - Proverbs 21:2 ( NKJV ) 2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.

David, Uzzah, and the Ark 2 Samuel 6; 1 Chronicles 13
Lessons to learn: Ignorance of the law does not excuse us; we are still subject to God’s will. Rom 10:1-3 Our carelessness and/or laziness can cause our own destruction AND that of others. Matt 15:13-14 CONCLUSION: Let’s strive with all our heart to serve God in the specific ways that He has taught us. Ignorance of the law does not excuse us; we are still subject to God’s will. Romans 10:1-3 ( NKJV ) 1Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for £Israel is that they may be saved. 2For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. Our carelessness and/or laziness can cause our own destruction AND that of others. Matthew 15:13-14 ( NKJV ) 13But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” CONCLUSION: We must strive with all our heart to serve God in the specific ways that He has taught us.
