From: Saccadic localization in the presence of cues to three-dimensional shape
Journal of Vision. 2004;4(6):4. doi: /4.6.4 Figure Legend: Results of applying different weighted-averaging models to the two shapes tested in Experiment 3. Lighter colors indicate regions receiving higher weight. Black cross, 2D COG obtained from uniform weighting; red cross, 3D COG of object; blue cross, COG obtained after applying the given weighting function. Weights were assigned to individual pixels prior to averaging. a. Weights increase monotonically along the bisector of the 2D shape (see inset). b. Uniform weight applied exclusively to upper portion of the shape. c–e. Higher weights assigned within region bounded by the dashed blue curve. As the weight assigned to this region increases, the COG moves along the dashed blue line from the original unweighted COG to the location shown by the blue cross.
