Lateral thoracic bodies T4 thru T12 (not 1- 3 because of the shoulders) and their interspaces, the intervertebral foramina, and the lower spinous processes.

Good film Vertebrae should be seen clearly through rib and lung shadows 12th thoracic vertebrae should be on the film (could center lower to get L-1 because upper T1 thruT-3 are superimposed by shoulders) Ribs superimposed posteriorly (rotation) Collimation-not a CXR!
