What are we learning this year?
Please see the Curriculum Map for the units of work we will be studying this term. We will send further information about what your child will be learning at the start of each term. Below are the IPC topics we are looking forward to throughout the year. Each topic will have an entry and exit point. The exit point usually involves inviting parent/carers to celebrate the topic. Please refer to the IPC letter for more information. This will all be on the website. Autumn: E-Safety Brainwave What its made of? Reading Reading books will be changed when a child has finished them.
Children are encouraged to borrow a school library book. Our library day is: 1R: Monday and 1G: Friday If a library book is lost, please donate a book to the school.

Phonics Phonics is taught in sets, developing the reading skills covered in Reception. There will be a meeting for parent/carers later this term on how phonics is taught.

Reading Theme Week Date: Week beginning 2nd October
There will be a presentation on a new program we have bought called Reading Eggs on the 2nd October There will be an opportunity for parent/carers to come in for a Reading Café More details on the theme week will be given later this month

How to help your child at home with reading
Reading Skills - different texts, ask children questions to check their understanding of the text, go through the pictures. Read everyday with your child. Practise spellings daily.

How to help your child at home with maths
To help your child with maths, count with your child using every day objects up to 100. In homework books there will be a 100 square for you to use with your child.

How to help with your child at home with Writing
Helping your child at home with number and letter formation, writing on the lines, using finger spaces and full stops. Play games such as scrabble to develop their vocabulary.

Children log in using their username and password The children can access safe research websites including mathletics. This will also be used for homework

Please talk to your child regarding the use of uploading images and videos to websites such as You tube/musically. Use parental controls, please see the website above for further information. If you have any concerns regarding E – Safety please contact a member of staff.

If you need us… We are all here to help, please catch us after school in the playground once all children are dismissed. If information is confidential a meeting will have to be arranged.
