2 Apple's new iPhone X can be unlocked with a scan of your face
Apple's new iPhone X can be unlocked with a scan of your face. But biometric identification like this raises important questions about privacy and security. On Friday, in a published letter written to Apple CEO Tim Cook, Democratic Senator Al Franken expressed concern over the use of the phone's new Face ID system. The Minnesota senator asked the company to provide more information about how facial recognition will affect iPhone users' privacy and security and whether the tech will recognize different races, ages and genders. Apple said its Face ID tech was trained with over 1 billion images, but it's unclear how diverse the data set was or where Apple got the images from. The senator also shared concern over what happens to face scan data. Apple  has previously addressed some privacy concerns around Face ID. The company said all facial information is stored on the device and not in the cloud, and it is protected by a "secure enclave." Face ID is also designed to prevent spoofing attempts by a photo or a mask. Franken asked Apple to respond to the letter by October 13.

3 In Other News Hurricane Jose churned off the U.S. East Coast Monday morning as a Category One storm. The slow-moving storm was expected to remain offshore. But even from afar it was stirring up the surf and creating rip currents at the Jersey Shore. Tropical storm watches have been posted along the coast from Delaware to Massachusetts' Cape Cod. Police are warning parents about an attempted child luring in Feasterville, Bucks County. Lower Southampton Township police said the incident happened Sunday on Park Lane near Bustleton Pike. According to police, a man driving a silver SUV approached two girls, ages 8 and 9. He reportedly asked them if they wanted a ride. The girls told him no and he drove off. Police are still looking for the driver. Police in London say they've arrested a second man in connection to Friday's attack on the city's subway. The 21-year-old was arrested in west London around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to a south London police station for questioning but he has yet to be charged or identified. The Islamic State's Amaq news agency said the militant group was responsible for the attack, but that claim could not be independently verified. Police arrested an 18-year-old on Saturday in Dover as well, in connection to the rush hour attack.
