2. What is the difference?
Active voice—when a subject of a sentence performs an action denoted by the verb. In other words, the subject is doing the verb’s action.
Ghosts haunted the house.
(S) (V)
Here, the ghosts are doing the action. They are haunting the house.

3. Passive voice—the subject of a sentence is no longer active, instead it is being acted upon by the verb.
The house was haunted by ghosts.
(S) (V)
Here, the house is not doing the haunting. The ghosts are doing the haunting, so the house is not doing the action.

4. A fun trick to detect PASSIVE VOICE
Most of the time, passive voice can include the “doer” following the verb. So…if adding “by zombies” after the verb makes sense, it’s probably passive voice.
The town was attacked. (passive voice)
Zombies attacked the town. (active voice)
The town was attacked by zombies. (passive voice)
