All Things work together for good
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 October 21, 2012 Rev. David B. Hanson Deaf Liberty Baptist Church Overland Park, Kansas

Do all things really work together for good?
A boy died in a car accident. A lady lost her leg due to diabetics. A policeman died when a thief shot him. A family’s house was burned down caused by arson. Can we still believe in Romans 8:28?

Two Problems We Have with Romans 8:28
1. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 2. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

1. We Need To Start With God.
…all things work together for good to them that love God,… God is there at the beginning. He is there at every point in between. He is there at the end. God is at work. We must see the active involvement of God.

2. We Need a Long-Term Perspective.
…we know that all things work together for good… Our danger is that we will judge the end by the beginning. We ought to judge the beginning by the end. God causes all things to “work together."

…all things work together for good… Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

3. We Need To Define The Word “Good.”
…all things work together for good… We might be conformed to the likeness of Jesus Christ. God is at work in your life making you like Jesus Christ.

3. We Need To Define The Word “Good.”
…all things work together for good… God is committed to making you like Jesus Christ. We learn more in the darkness than we do in the light.

4. We Need To Understand The Limitation of Romans 8:28.
…them that love God,… This verse is true of Christians. Why? Because God’s purpose is to make his children one day like his Son. 1. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior? 2. Do you know that you belong to God?

Two Important Things You Need To Know
1. We do not need to try to explain the unexplainable. 2. We need to understand that God’s values and our values are not the same.

Two Important Things You Need To Know
Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
