8 Doing Good A Beautiful Mess

9 Doing Good A Beautiful Mess We need to be good in our thoughts, attitudes, words and actions We need to do good – not do-gooders but good-doers.

10 Doing Good We need to reflect:
A Beautiful Mess We need to reflect: The goodness of the God who cares for the poor and needy, The goodness of the God who defends the cause of the widow and orphan. That must be the quality of our goodness also, as disciples of Jesus with the life of Christ living in us by His Spirit.

11 Doing Good Good works are not the source or grounds for our salvation.
A Beautiful Mess Good works are not the source or grounds for our salvation. But once we have experienced God’s salvation, we are called to respond to His saving grace and redeeming love by living lives that are characterised by goodness, in our personal and public lives, in the church and in the world.

12 Doing Good Romans 12:9 Hate what is evil, cling to what is good
A Beautiful Mess Romans 12:9 Hate what is evil, cling to what is good 2 Corinthians 9:8 God is able to bless you abundantly so that in all things and at all times you will abound in every good work Galatians 6:9-10 Let us not become weary in doing good… as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

13 Doing Good A Beautiful Mess Colossians 1:10 Live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work 2 Thessalonians 3:13 As for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. Titus 1:8 An elder must be hospitable, one who loves what is good,

14 Doing Good A Beautiful Mess Titus 2:3 Teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Titus 2:14 Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good.

15 Doing Good A Beautiful Mess Titus 3:1-2 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle towards everyone. Titus 3: so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. Titus 3:14 Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good.

16 Christian Living A Beautiful Mess Why does Paul put such a strong emphasis on Christians being people who do good works? Why is goodness an essential part of the Fruit of the Spirit? Because it reflects the nature and truth of the Gospel.

17 Christian Living A Beautiful Mess When we respond to evil in our world by acting with kindness and goodness, we are not only bearing the supernatural Fruit of the Spirit of God, we are also living in the power of the cross and the resurrection, and we are anticipating the final victory of God’s goodness over all evil in the universe. In doing good we demonstrate the saving and transforming power of the Gospel.

18 Christian Living A Beautiful Mess The cross and resurrection are not just the proof of God’s goodness, they are also the source and pattern of any and all goodness we can do as Christians. Do what is good, do what is right, and let God take responsibility for the consequences.
