get the drugs---- 1-group purchase organization will negotiate prices for hospitals and institutions but does not make actual purchase. 2-from drug maker---buy in bulk for savings, or low demand, or special expense. 3-wholesalers-have stock from all makers. maybe emergency deliveries or automated purchases. 4-government--requires DEA form 222 for sch 2 drugs

point of sale----item is deducted from inventory when dispensed and maybe reordered on computer. purchase order----form to order drugs/supplies from wholesaler. formulary---list of drugs approved for use in hospital or whose cost will be reimbursed by 3rd party. open formulary is all pharm products carried closed formulary is limited products of each drug classification covered,special permission for off list restricted formulary carries open and closed

P&T committee(pharmacy and therapeutics)— PharmD, drs, nurses, accountants,ect develop a formulary for hospital. 3rd party provider---may develop a formulary for members on products they will pay for(pharmacy benefit providers) PAR value---periodic automatic replacement. computer orders when inventory falls below X amount. Drugs that sell fast have high PAR level so you never run out.

4 point of sale/inventory
inventory comes in--- verify invoice special storage? sign and date invoice paperwork to accounts payable product on shelf to back. keep paperwork as outline by CSA.
