4. Health and Safety - Hazardous substances
Hazard Symbols
Chemicals which can be dangerous are labeled with hazard symbols.
Match the hazard symbol to the correct definition.
Toxic:
These substances can cause death if swallowed or breathed in.
Harmful/ Irritant:
These chemicals can cause irritation or inflammation of the skin
Dangerous to the environment:
These substances cause either immediate or delayed harm to the environment
Oxidizing:
These substances provide oxygen, which allows other materials to burn more fiercely.
Corrosive:
These substances attack and destroy living tissues, including eyes and skin.
Extremely flammable:
These substances easily catch fire.
