3 Our Classroom The aim of our classroom is to be as inviting and stimulating as possible for the children to learn effectively. Children play an active role in how the classroom looks! We use working walls to display key information to help children to work independently. We celebrate their achievements and work by displaying these. Our IIP displays help track our targets too.

4 Expectations Now that the children have reached Year 4 our expectations of them have once again increased. A lot of the things we put in place this year will be laying the foundations for the transition into Year 5. In Year 4 there is a lot more emphasis on independence and taking greater responsibility for belongings, work, organisation etc. Good to Go Checks. We encourage the children to give their best effort at all times and for them to be prepared to give it a go, no matter what the challenge is! Discuss the how we work as a team and this is a two year program. All signed behaviour policy Give it a go attitude Wearing badges, setts an example, correct uniform Here all the time. Only 40 weeks, 5 days off is a whole week missed - also mention punctuality.

5 This Years Focus… Reading (at home and school) and we actively encourage a love of reading and offer a range of high quality of texts to read in the classroom and the library. Problem solving and reasoning in maths - we aim to encourage independent thinking and a deeper understanding in maths. MV Mindsets - through a growth mindset approach we hope your children will become more resilient learners.

Swimming kit - Tuesday PE kit - Wednesday Making sure that they have all the things that they need for the day and taking care of everything they have PE kits only to be brought when needed because of the cloakroom. What's in their work packs and why they don't need pencil cases etc. Information about our own class systems etc. Class jobs Where things are Etc

8 Music - singing, ukulele, music appreciation
Languages - French PE - TSC coaches teaching a wide variety of sports skills Swimming DT & Art

9 Educational Trips & Visitors
Autumn 2 - Bollywood dance workshop & Visiting author meet and greet Spring 1 - Rio carnival dance workshop Spring 2 - Music workshop & Tropical World Food tasting every half term! All costs will be confirmed soon and letters will be sent out shortly including ParentPay details.

10 Homework Homework Journals with a maths/ English or science focus to be handed out on a Friday and handed in on a Wednesday. Reading - 3 x per week Spellings - handed out Monday and tested Friday Topic - half termly

11 Help at Home… We would appreciate support from home to ensure homework is completed on time in order to quickly establish an effective routine. Reading regularly (at least 3 times weekly) and talking about the texts would be great 😊 Learning times tables is key - this underpins all their maths skills and would help them progress greatly!
