5 Radio-wave remote control and immobilizer system III
Radio-wave remote control in combination with the ignition key Kessy CU evaluates the radio-wave signals, all central lock functions are operated via central comfort CU Immobilizer system III in combination with EIS and engine CU ( EIS carries the reader coil) Central comfort CU

6 Unlocking and locking the ESL via KESSY
The ESL is encoded and activated by means of the entry and start authorization relay: - key insert  steering column unlock - key release  steering column lock The communication between Kessy CU and ESL ist coded. The steering column is supplied with voltage for lock or unlocking only, otherwise the ESL is deenergized. The ignition can only be activated when the steering column is unlocked.

20 "Teach-in process" As the Kessy system contains the immobiliser, the relevant components must be taught-in (via the relevant vehicle PIN) as today. These are: Entry and start authorisation control unit, ESL, keys, engine control unit The system is taught-in in production (at the end of the belt). Due to reasons of theft protection, only one component can be exchanged in the existing system. On exchange of the EIS, no coding or adaptation is necessary
