1 Walk-In Take out notebook, folder, pencil box and agenda.
Take out your SIGNED PINK SLIP. Open your agenda to the week of Aug. 7 to Aug. 11. Copy the learning objectives for this week from the blackboard into the top half of your agenda boxes for science.

2 Reminder – Science Safety Quiz on Wednesday!
Study the safety rules that are on the pink sheet that went home last week! Bring back signed pink slip by this Friday! Make sure parents have signed up for list.

4 Scientific Specimen

5 A rare, new scientific specimen has been found!
The specimen is YOU! In this activity, you will Share information about yourself by pretending to be a new scientific specimen, recently discovered! Draw and color a picture of the specimen to show what it looks like!

6 Scientific Name Give yourself a two-word Latin-sounding scientific name! Each word should have something to do with things you are interested in. Add the suffix “us” or “ius” to sound scientific! Example: Musicus readingius might describe someone who loves to read and who is into music!

7 What do these names help explain about a specimen?
Footballius cheetosus Artistius ballerinus Engineeringus computerius Cupcakeius chocolatius

8 Tell the properties of this new specimen!
Found at: places you like to go to Feeds on: (list things you like to eat) Activities observed: (tell three things you like to do) Family Grouping: (tell about whom you live with, like parents’ names, names of siblings, pets, etc.) Found as far away as: (list a place/places you have traveled to).

9 Illustration Draw a picture of yourself as this scientific specimen including as many of the things you wrote down as you can! Add color and background details! BE CREATIVE!

10 Share your information with the person NEXT to you!
A and B share, and C and D share. Listen carefully to their information, because you will be introducing them soon to other classmates!

11 Find two people to share with.
Find two people who were not sitting at your table. Introduce your partner to them. Have your partner introduce you. Listen as the two people each share about their partner. If there’s time, find new partners, and share about the new specimen!
