Andrea Palladio is widely considered to be the most influential individual in the history of architecture

3 He shaped the world that surrounds us today.
Some of his most influential villas survive in the Veneto region around Venice, Italy. Palladio's treatise, "The Four Books on Architecture", ranks as the most influential publication on architecture ever produced and has shaped much of the architectural image of Western civilization

San Giorgio Maggiore is a 16th-century Benedictine church on the island of the same name in Venice, northern Italy, designed by Andrea Palladio, and built between 1566 and The church is a basilica in the classical renaissance style and its brilliant white marble gleams above the blue water of the lagoon opposite the Piazzetta and forms the focal point of the view from every part of the Riva degli Schiavoni.
