is a type of injury to the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) of the thumb.

The UCL is torn at the insertion site into the proximal phalanx of the thumb

4. How its injured Is common in gamekeepers, skiers, and other athletes
Occurs from bracing a fall on the thumb, or chronic hyper abduction

5. Treatment simply immobilizing the joint in a thumb spica splint.
In a complete tear it requires surgery

6. Recovery Put in a splint for 3-4 weeks after surgery.
Eventually motion to thumb returns
Return to sports 3-4 months after
