5 Many Opportunities for education and training in the Army
Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) High school, college or active duty Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) Select graduate medical education programs Loan Repayment Qualified loans in select specialties Ongoing Education and Technical Training AMEDD Center & School Technician training Subspecialty education Talking Points: The Army offers many opportunities for undergraduate and professional scholarships and a wide variety of education and training. ROTC is one of the best leadership courses in the country. Students can get involved as early as high school to gain skills and leadership training early on and set themselves up for college – both as a disciplined student and financially. If students plan to move on to graduate programs in certain health care fields like medicine, dentistry and nursing, they should consider the Health Professions Scholarship Programs. It’s hands-down one of the best scholarships available, and the best part is students graduate debt-free with a guaranteed job! Loan repayment and other ongoing education and training opportunities make it easy to focus on your professional goals without worrying about debt.

6 Focus on getting the degree, not how To pay for it
Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Two-, three-, and four-year scholarship options at more than 1,100 colleges and universities Leadership training Full-tuition Room and board option Living allowance, plus allowances for books and fees Nurse Summer Training Program Two-, three-, and four-year scholarship options at more than 1,100 colleges and universities Leadership training Full-tuition Room and board option Living allowance, plus allowances for books and fees Nurse Summer Training Program AMEDD Center & School Technician training Subspecialty education Talking Points: The ROTC program really allows students to start learning about the fundamentals of Army service, develop leadership skills and ultimately pursue education without financial burden. When students graduate from high school, they will have a variety of scholarships and colleges to choose from, and continue to have access to development opportunities that are invaluable for any career including clinical, leadership and teamwork. It’s also worth noting for students who aspire to enter the nursing field one day, that many schools with nursing programs have guaranteed seats set aside for ROTC students if they have a 3.5 GPA and pass the nurse entrance exam. In 2015, the Army awarded more than $280 million in ROTC scholarships.

7 If Students Pursue a Graduate Degree, the Army is Here to Help
Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) Full tuition for accredited medical, dental, veterinary, family nurse practitioner, certified registered nurse anesthetist, psychology or optometry program $20,000 signing bonus and monthly stipend of more than $2,200 Covers required books, equipment and most fees In residency, annual grant of $45,000 + monthly stipend of $2,200 Talking Points: HPSP is a great way to pursue a health care career in medicine, dentistry, veterinary and other specialties. Students graduate debt-free, and often can come out ahead with a $20K signing bonus. The Army supports students during residency and they have a job on the Army health care team when they complete graduate studies.
