Method: H.E Interlobular septa, lobule The periphery of each lobule stained deeply is called cortex, and the central zone stained lightly is called medulla. The cortex consists of a dense population of thymocytes and a small numbers of epithelial reticular cells. the medulla consists of many epithelial reticular cells and lymphocytes in smaller numbers. Thymocyte Reticular cell Thymic corpuscles The medulla contains the red thymic corpuscles, each consisting of several layers of flattened, concentrically arranged epithelial reticular cells. They are a characteristic feature of the thymus.
