Safe Practices and Safety Risks
Students brainstorm potential safety risks in the classroom, school building and playground. Record each idea on a separate index card. Categorize the safety risks under the headings Classroom, School Building, and Playground. Scatter the index cards on the floor. Have students pick up index cards and tape each one under the appropriate heading.

Safety Simon Says Each student needs one small square of red paper and one square of green paper. When the teacher names a hazardous risk, raise the red paper. When the teacher names a safe practice, raise the green paper. We will talk about each one. Make connections between the situations and your lives at school and at home.
