2 How can news teams have an influence on society?
Change people’s views on events happening in the world Give people perspective on what news can mean to them Give information with a slant to bias the opinions of the people

3 What is bias? Bias a particular tendency or inclination, especially one that prevents unprejudiced consideration of a question

4 What is news slandering?
News slandering is when a news station explicitly says something negative about an event, a product, or a people

5 What is the correct way for the media to influence society?
Give facts and nothing more Do not put own opinion or views into story Do not manipulate facts Have other speakers give solution/opinion to give perspective (interviews)

6 How does the media report bias to society?
All media sources have some sort of bias Bias can be shown with anything from a biased statement to a tone of voice

7 Examples of media bias Fox News is known as a conservative news source while CNN is thought of as liberal Their different methods of broadcasting and the opinions of the network account for this They also display their information in a way that makes their opinion seem right

8 Examples of media bias In October of 2003, a survey was conducted about misconceptions about the Iraq war First, the participants were asked what news network they watch They then talked about what they thought they knew about the war

9 Continued… As it turned out, most people who had a major misconception about the war exclusively watched Fox News
