4. Charles I King Charles I waging war with Scotland (1640).
Parliament stops paying for war so he leaves England.
Comes back with massive army and starts English Civil War (1642)

5. English Civil War Parliament raises an army against Charles
King loses and is captured (1646).
Escapes and starts 2nd Civil War (1647), loses again.
Parliament puts King Charles on trial for Treason (1649)
Oliver Cromwell leads the charges against the king

11. Glorious Revolution
William and Mary take the throne, and the coup was bloodless (1688).
1689, Parliament passes Bill of Rights, declaring parliamentary supremacy over the crown.
