3. I was born and raised in a small North-western Ontario community of 15,000 people called Kenora. It is located on the shores of Lake of the Woods and is only a half an hour drive from the Manitoba border.

4. Growing up in such a small community surrounded by wilderness I was introduced to sports and outdoor activities from a young age. My passion for these types of activities is still growing and I love to teach others about them.

5. I’ve known from a very young age that I wanted to have a career related to athletics since that is what I love to do most in life. Once I got past the age of thinking that making it as a professional athlete was an option I thought about what I could be. Throughout the years I’ve had many inspiring coaches and physical education teachers.

6. It is because of them that I decided years ago that being a teacher is what I wanted to do for a career. I want to influence as many students as possible in a positive way so they all can enjoy playing sports as much as I have growing up. In my opinion there is no other career where you can have that kind of an impact and build relationships with such a large number of children. A good teacher can and will positively change the lives of many of their students over the course of their career. To be this kind of a teacher is my goal.

7. I have now officially begun the last step in my preparation for becoming a teacher. I have just started the Teacher Education program at the University of Ottawa and am looking forward to learning lots and pursuing my dream.
