DEFINITIONS MEDIA MESSAGES- SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT THEY SHOULD LOOK LIKE THE MODELS IN MAGAZINES OR THE ACTORS ON TV. THEY MAY EVEN FEEL UGLY OR FAT COMPARED WITH THE MODELS AND ACTORS. BUT THE PEOPLE SHOWN ON TV AND IN MAGAZINES ARE NOT TYPICAL. YOUR APPEARANCE, YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND EVEN YOUR TEACHERS AND COACHES MAY MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT YOUR APPEARANCE. MOST LIKELY, THESE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO HURT YOU. BUT SOMETIMES THESE COMMENTS CAN HURT YOUR FEELINGS. REMEMBER THAT YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, TEACHERS, AND COACHES ARE USUALLY VERY SUPPORTIVE WHEN YOU ARE FEELING UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT YOUR BODY.
