Requirements include: consider a life-cycle perspective in the identification and evaluation of environmental aspects 8.1 – consistent with a life-cycle perspective…. Put in place controls in design/development process….considering each life-cycle stage Set environment requirements for procurement Consider the need to provide information on significant environmental impacts for “forward life-cycle stages”

Overall intent: For organisations to focus their efforts on making significant improvements in environmental performance….. “does not require a detailed life cycle assessment” [Annex A.6.1.2]
