Definition of plagiarism
Academic misconduct: Any activity that tends to compromise the academic integrity of the university or subvert the educational process. Plagiarism is the behavior of re-write the author’s passage without citation, misinterpreting the author’s ideas, copying and pasting the passage without pointing out the author. ( OSU(2015) Code of Student Conduct)

Types of Plagiarism Use a lot of same words with the same structure.
Direct Quotation Use a lot of same words with the same structure. Same structure, simply replace the words Misinterpretation of textual ideas Paraphrase Missing citation Missing quotation marks

Investigating the causes
Different backgrounds and cultural lead to different perception of plagiarism. Inadequate education towards intellectual property. International pressure.

Solving problem .Home country—pay more attention on acknowledging students about the importance of academic conduct Universities–introduce classes to emphasize the avoidance of plagiarism Using approaches—software like ”turnitin” is also very helpful

Why international students face culture shock.

According to an article presented in 2015 by University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne; Student Affair at Illinois, international students may face these factors in changing: change, loss, value differences, expectations, social skills, host country receptivity.

Cultures are different from country to country, it is unavoidable to face some culture shock, and “the greater the differences between cultures, the more challenging the process of adaptation.” (UIUC (2015) Cross-cultural journey for international students: Stages of Culture Shock) If some students come up with discrimination, things would be even worse.

what can international students do to cope with culture shock.

Here are some suggestions help international students conquer culture shock. According to UIUC (2015) Cross-cultural journey for international students: Stages of Culture Shock, there are few tips for international students cope with culture adaptation.

First, students need to be familiar with USA’ academic system
First, students need to be familiar with USA’ academic system. Students can turn to advisors and professors for help. They can also study with others, such as with friends or in study groups. Second, students should try to know more American culture via newspaper, native people and etc.

What’s more, they can also seeking some hometown’s food or people who are willing to share and listen to their experience. That’s a good way to relieve homesick and culture shock. But international students need to remember, cultural adaptation needs some time and effort to cope with.
