1 Healthy Teams Glorify God
“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” 1 Cor 13, the love chapter, has nothing to do with weddings and marriages in the NT. It is the proper way to act towards people who are different... 1 Cor 12: No gift envy (The foot should not say, “because I am not a hand, I don’t belong to the body.” Ear should not say to the Eye 1 Cor 12: No gift Pride: The eye can’t say to the hand, “I don’t need you. 6 People will follow you to the level
that they TRUST you

7 A Great Book On Trust Speed of Trust – 2006; by Stephen M.R. Covey, son of the 7 Habits guy, Stephen Covey old book—because you can trust it!

8 5 5 key behaviors to gain TRUST
“Trust is the operating system for a life well-lived” These behaviors come indirectly from the book “The Truth About Leadership” chapter 6 on Trust

9 The best thing you can do is to
1. Trust Others If you want others to TRUST YOU The best thing you can do is to TRUST THEM From The Truth About Leadership: Trust Reigns: And the Leader has to “ante up” first with no promise of reciprocity.

10 2. Be Consistent Actions do speak louder than words!
Indecisiveness & Inconsistency... will kill you. A persons actions tell us who they really are… their words tell us who they want to be. “Love at all times… and when necessary, use words”

11 Be clear, be clear, be clear!
3. Clarity Be clear, be clear, be clear! People say they’ll follow honesty, but they really follow… Clarity When asked the most important quality in a leader, people overwhelmingly choose Honesty/Integrity. In a poll of 2017 Democrat Presidential candidates, guess who finished lowest in HONESTY? (Hillary) EVEN WORSE, because there were so many more candidates, guess who finished lowest in always tells the truth? (The Donald) We say we want to follow honesty, but what people really follow is… CLARITY! Stay on message and be clear! Clarity is the antidote to fear.

12 Embrace accountability
4. Do What You Say! Pay the price Embrace accountability “Blessed is the man who keeps his word, even when it hurts” Psalm 15 “Blessed is the man who keeps his word, even when it hurts” P -Michael Hyatt’s boss said he would get a bonus in three months if he hit certain goals The company put a freeze on bonuses, so the dude paid him out of pocket! “Is there a time in the past year where I or a member of my team have promised something and not delivered?”

13 5. Be Vulnerable Tell the truth about your mistakes
Take full responsibility for team failures -University Title iX committee member “I forgot about the meeting.” so honest people trusted him more! The more vulnerable you are, the more you will be trusted

14 Trust Others First Be Consistent Clarity! Do What You Say
Be Vulnerable Leader Goes First! Choose to work on one of these today! Make a choice The road of life is paved with flat squirrels who couldn’t make a decision. This time of year, acorns are EVERYWHERE, meaning squirrels are EVERYWHERE. The squirrels who will see the Spring are the DECISIVE ones. Don’t end up a flat squirrel, choose one of these to work on… Choose to trust others Consistent Actions Clear Communication Come through Candor (Honesty) 1. Choose to Trust Others 2. Be Consistent (Actions Speak Loud; Indecision is a trust killer) 3. Be Clear, Be Clear, Be Clear (People follow Clarity; antidote to fear) 4. Deliver On Your Promises! (Pay the Price; Ask if you’ve failed in this area) 5. Be Really Honest (Tell the truth about mistakes; take responsibility for team failures

15 CONFLICT HEALTHY, problem-based conflict is good.
BLAMING and personality-based conflict is bad. God gave different gifts. Consider PERSONALITY & WEAKNESSES. 1 Cor 13, the love chapter, has nothing to do with weddings and marriages in the NT. Head can not say to the feet, I don’t need you. 1 Cor 14: The divine order of the gifts, seek those gifts that build up the church, See prophecy over tongues

16 COMMITMENT DISCUSSION , IS NOT commitment. AGREEING , IS commitment.
DISCUSSION , IS NOT commitment. AGREEING , IS commitment. SILENCE IS DISAGREEMENT!

17 ACCOUNTABILITY PEER-TO-PEER is best. This is the most DIFFICULT area.
PEER-TO-PEER is best. This is the most DIFFICULT area. Accountability is a POSITIVE word! (if you do your work)

18 RESULTS Did it WORK??? Don’t focus on ACTIVITY,
Did it WORK??? Don’t focus on ACTIVITY, instead focus on RESULTS!

19 and the leader must ante up first.”
“Trust is always about being vulnerable and authentic at the inmost core level… and the leader must ante up first.” “The Truth Is That Trust Rules. Getting people to work together begins with building mutual trust. Before asking for trust from others, you must demonstrate your own trust in them. That means taking the risk of disclosing what you stand for, value, want, hope for, and are willing and unwilling to do. You also have to be predictable and consistent in your actions; forthright, candid, and clear in your communication; and serious about your promises. And, as we’ve learned so many times, leaders are far better served when they’re forthcoming with information. There’s nothing more destructive to trust than deceit, and nothing more constructive than candor.”
