Lifecycle Management: Overview
Execute LCM functionality within Shared Services Move artifacts or entire applications between development, test, and production Using LCM, you can work with the following scenarios: Disconnected environments, where development, test, and production environments are completely isolated Separate Shared Services and separate Performance Management Architect Utilize the file system Connected environment Application to Application direct migration Development Test Production 20

21
64-bit Platform Support The X64-bit platforms (Intel Xeons and AMD Opterons) enable users to leverage all technical advantages that the platform offers. When does this help? Answer: whenever loading subcubes into adressable memory is the performance bottleneck = with large models (extensive metadata structures, lots of data). Please note that if the bottleneck is something else such network bandwith or CPU power, 64-bit does not help. => Identify the limiting factor before moving forward!
22
64-bit vs 32-bit HFM: performance improvement example
Large application with ~2500 entities with many large subcubes. The number of base-level records per year in all subcubes for the Actual scenario and years was between 2 to 6 million. 10 concurrent consolidations The 64-bit version was run with a cache size of 30M and the 32-bit version used a 2M-record cache. The total memory footprint of the test was 7 GB. Because of the large memory footprint required for this particular test, the 64-bit version is outperforming 32-bit HFM by a factor of 9.5 to 14 times. In a real-life situation, this same load would be handled acceptably by multiple application servers in a cluster. What this implies is that 64-bit HFM can either handle the workload with fewer application servers, or scale beyond what was possible with 32-bit HFM given the same number of servers.
23
Equity Pickup Is an accounting technique that reevaluates the investments owned by a holding company. The technique adjusts the investments in the company’s balance sheet to reflect the current value of the corresponding share in the equity of the subsidiary.
24
Matching Tolerance as % of Transaction
When specifying a matching tolerance for a period, a user can specify an amount, a percentage, or both for Transaction ID (TID) Tolerance. The percentage is applied to the smaller of the entity or partner transaction.
