6. Kiawah-Seabrook Exchange Club Celebrating 34 years (1982 - 2016)
The club was chartered on April 16, 1982 with 85 members.
Initially the name of the club was an item of heated discussion.
It was decided that the island to come first in the name would be the one who had the most members on the charter date.
There were bi-monthly meetings and quarterly dues were $60.
The first female joined the club in 1989.
The number of members has varied considerably from a low of 56 in 1984 to a high of 115 in 1989.
We currently have 110 members
Over the past 30 years the club has donated over $2,000,000 to support local agencies and schools.
These funds were generated from the sale of ads in the Kiawah-Seabrook Exchange Club Handbook.

7. President's Goals for 2016
Increase member participation in all club activities and committees; create an expectation that all new members will be actively involved in the handbook.
Recruit new members especially Kiawah Island residents and women.
Increase handbook advertising sales (more money to give to local agencies and schools).
Assure that the club is fun and always advancing a culture of camaraderie.
