This 3-year-old child developed abdominal distention and bloody diarrhea after a fishing trip during which she consumed lake water. She had a prior history of colonic dysmotility. A. An abdominal radiograph shows dilation of the gas-filled transverse colon. B. There is marked wall thickening of the descending colon (arrow) on this transverse sonographic image. C. CT shows spasm, wall thickening, and mucosal hyperenhancement in the descending and sigmoid portions of the colon. There is dilation of the contrast-filled transverse colon.
