4 Campaign Iteration Meeting at CERN: May 6-7th Main Objectives:
Iteration of past tests and results Planning of upcoming/new ones Minutes: link1 and link2

5 Campaign Status (see link)
Please go through the table, as well as the minutes/summaries of the last meeting

6 Documents/QA - Twiki Twiki Website to collect all documents related to Fraunhofer test campaigns (!!! documentation and quality assurance !!!) QA is as good as YOU make/keep/update it Short Description/CERN Request Proceduer/Shipping/Facilities, etc. Minutes, notes, summaries Status of projects with !!! Sub-Pages !!! for each campaign Summary for passive irradiations Fraunhofer/CERN contacts Former tables, etc. (kept for consistency checks)

7 Requirements and Next Results of tests (report, CERN analysis, impact on machines, etc.) to be uploaded/updated on Twiki Fraunhofer comited doing their part during the coming weeks CERN equipment groups: please do the same The Fraunhofer team is currently investigating how to best optimize the upcoming campaigns In the meantime please prepare/update already the specification documents and start shipping the components

9 Test Facilities

10 Co-60 Source (TID Tests) Typical activity: 2×1013 Bq (500 Ci)
Maximum dose rate: ~3 Gy/s (300 rad/s) Maximum dose (very small samples): 1 MGy (100 Mrad) in 4-6 days Temperature range: -55°C to +150°C Dosimetry: Calibrated ionisation chambers and TLDs (LiF) Large test volume (~1 m³)

11 Co-60 Source (TID Tests) Bunker layout with cable feeds, remote control to test equipment possible, etc,… Whole irradiation chamber thermally stabilized 0.2°C Larger test volume resulting in large variation of dose rate Exclusive concrete bunker without interference with other irradiations Measurement equipment close in precision climate chamber

12 Co-60 High-Dose Tests (passive)
BGS (Wiehl) close to Fraunhofer Goal: tests in the MGy range (& large volume) Only passive radiation tests possible (some possibilities for ‘small’ samples)

13 Neutron Generator (DD Tests)
Neutron generation via fusion reaction T(d,n)4He En  14 MeV D(d,n)3He En  2.6 MeV 14 MeV: Source particles < 4 × 1010 n/s in 4p Fluence of 1013 n/cm2 after several hours 2.5 MeV: About a factor of 100 less 14 MeV–n in Si are twice effective as 1 MeV–n Fluence and dose measured with activation foils and fission chambers

14 Blanket Contract Demand for radiation test campaigns (TID, DD) is steadily increasing Time and man-power constraints are a frequent issue for equipment groups Individual contracts are lengthy and total volume exceeds 200kCHF/y envelope In 2013 we established a blanket contract with Fraunhofer (maximum volume of 700kEUR/3y) Contract and test campaign iteration regularly on-going with Fraunhofer team
