7 Essential Elements of Communication
Source- where the information to be transmitted originates Message- what needs to be sent Channel- pathway through which the source sends the message Receiver- intended recipient of the message Noise- barriers to communication Feedback- positive or negative response that indicates whether a message has been received Context- overall environment through which the communication takes place

If you compare this to a football game…
The source is where the message originates, or like the quarterback who throws the ball. The message is what is being sent, or the football.

The channel… The channel is the pathway through which the source sends the message, or you could think of it as the play the quarterback runs.

The receiver… The receiver is the recipient of the message, or the receiver in football

The noise… The noise is any barrier to communication, or the defense trying to block the play

The feedback… The positive or negative response that indicates whether a message has been received, or the crowd reaction

The context… The context is the overall environment through which the communication takes place
