Area of Quadrilaterals
How do I find the area of parallelograms, rhombuses, and trapezoids?

Parallelogram Recall that a rectangle is a special type of parallelogram. The area A of a parallelogram is the product of its base and height. (like a rectangle) A=bh Find the area of the parallelogram. 12 in 5.2 in

Trapezoids Two trapezoids put together will form a parallelogram. So this means the area of a trapezoid is ½ the area of a parallelogram. The height of the parallelogram is the same as the height of the trapezoid. The base is the SUM of the two bases (top and bottom) of the trapezoid. A=1/2 h(b1+b2) b1 h b2

Find the area Find the area of the trapezoid 17ft 16ft 39ft

Rhombus A rhombus is a quadrilateral where all sides are congruent and opposite sides are parallel. It can be divided into 4 triangles to create a rectangle. The base of the rectangle is the same length as one of the diagonals of the rhombus. The height of the rectangle is ½ the length of the other diagonal. A=b x h A=d1 (1/2 d2) h b

Rhombus The formula for the area of a rhombus is half of the product of its two diagonals. A= ½ d1(d2) Find the area of this rhombus 15in 24in
