1 As seen in this toddler, most patients present with a history of a brief febrile seizure without any postictal neurologic deficits (the overwhelming majority of febrile seizures will have terminated before presentation to the ED). In the absence of clinical signs or symptoms suggestive of CNS infection, such patients can be safely discharged home (once the etiology of fever has been determined).
