James Nachtwey James Nachtwey was born March 14, 1948 in Syracuse New York, U.S.A. He grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Dartmouth College, where he studied Art history and Political Science.( )

He started working as a photographer for the Albuquerque journal in In 1980 he moved to New York and became a freelance photographer. After 1981 he set off to travel the world to take photos of poverty, pollution, crime , and punishment

His style of photography is mostly close up’s and portraits with a couple angle views. His influences are the world itself. Just capturing moments of the things we think about like pollution ,war , and punishment, but never get to witness.

Something interesting about James Nachtwey is that he got injured by a grenade when his convoy got attacked serving as a contributing correspondent In Baghdad.

This Photo shows rebels fighting against the Palestinian army in the ruins of the city. James Nachtwey uses Natural lighting in the photograph because you can see the sunlight entering from the left of the picture.

This photo was taken of search groups after the twin towers in New York collapsed. The main focus is the search groups seeking blindly in the smog/smoke of the collapsed building. This is the main focus because everything else isn't visible to the eye.

This photo shows composition by the texture in the photo. The scars on the mans face is a good example of texture. It lets you see the scars from a close angle view, it lets you experience the pain and kind of gives out a story at the same time.

The photographer is trying to give you a front seat view of the tragic event of the twin towers. He is trying to tell the story and show you how drastically the event affected New York. In the photo you can see the remains of the buildings too.

I decided to choose James Nachtwey because his photo’s seemed interesting. They caught my eye as soon as I saw the first photo. He Captures pain and depressing events and goes to places were he could die. Someone who’s that passionate about their job deserves a power point, that’s why I chose James Nachtwey.
