4. -1979, Batas Pambansa No.20 created a regional autonomous government in the western and central Mindanao regions.
-ARMM was created on August 1, 1989 through Republic Act No.6734 (also known as Organic Act)
-November 6, 1990, ARMM was officially inaugurated in Cotabato City which was designated as its provincial capital.
-R.A No.9054 sought to expand the territory and power of ARMM by amending the Organic Act.
-R.A No.9054 lapsed into law on March 31, 2001
-Marawi City and Basilan (except Isabela City) opted to be included in ARMM
