A vacancy arises A job description is written or revised, based on job analysis A person specification or job profile is written A decision is made about whether ot recruit internally or externally Advertisements are drawn up and placed in appropriate media Application forms are issued and/or CVs and letters of application are requested Shortlising takes place Interviews are held and assessment and testing take place Aelection takes place and someone is appointed.

3 Training The need for training arises when the knowledge and skills required by the firm exceed or differ from those that workers currently possess. Possible reasons for training: The development and introduction of new products Restructuring the firm The development and introduction of new technology Changes to procedure, including improvements to customer service High labour turnover Low morale Changes in legislation.
