1 Why do we Keep Spinning!!! By-Paige

2 EARTHS ATMOSPHERE : Earths atmosphere is made of 78% nitrogen 21% oxygen 1% everything else Fun fact: Earths atmosphere burns meteors or debris that is hanging around in space… this is why we have very few craters.

3 HOW DO WE TRAVEL ? OUR EARTH ORBITS/REVOLS AROUND THE SUN. THIS PROCESS TAKES 365 (1 YEAR) MEAN WHILE THE EARTH IS ALSO ROTATING ON ITS AXIS THIS PROSESS TAKE 24 HOURS (1 DAY) *THE TILT IN EARTHS AXIS IS WHAT CAUSES OUR SEASONS* IN THIS PICTURE YOU CAN SEE THE ROTATION OF EARTH ON ITS AXIS AS WELL AS IT ORBITING THE SUN.

4 #bumpy! Imagine two plates Landforms
Now think about if those plates were inside our Earth What would happen if those plates collided? What would happen on Earth? Click here to find out

5 MOONS ATMOSPHERE The moon actually has a very small atmosphere, some will say it doesn’t have one at all! Because the moon has a thin atmosphere it cant burn debris like earth

6 HOW DOES IT TRAVEL? The process of the moon rotating on it’s axis takes 29½ days ( about one month) It also takes about one month for the moon to orbit the Earth- 29½ days FUN FACT!!!! GRAVITY IS 6 TIMES LESS ON THE MOON THAN IT IS ON EARTH

7 Man made bruises Our moon has a VERY
This is why it has a lot of craters---it has no protection!!!!!! VERY VERY Thin atmosphere

8 I’m a fire ball This flaming hot ball is actually made of gasses not fire. These gasses cause heat up to 5505˚c !!!!! This is called a solar flare click to find out what that is

9 Center of attention Extra fact
The sun is in the center of the solar system because of this it doesn’t orbit any planets. The sun does rotate on an axis like all the other planets though. Extra fact It takes the sun 27 days to make a compete rotation on its axis

10 Some other stuff -Because the moon is bigger it has more gravity, that gravity is what keeps all the planets in orbit. -The suns atmosphere is made of gasses Fun fact!!!!!!!! You could fit 100 earths in the sun The sun rises in the east And sets in the west

11 HOW BIG? OUR EARTH AGE 4.543 BILLION YRS OLD RADIUS: 3959 MI
AREA MILLION MI. SQUARED DISTANCE FROM THE SUN: MILLION MI. AGE BILLION YRS OLD RADIUS: 3959 MI THE BIGGEST OF THE ROCKY PLANETS

12 HOW SMALL? OUR MOON OUR MOON IS 1.079k MILES WIDE AND IS 238,900 MILES FROM EARTH IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING THERE IS NO WEATHERING OR EROSION ON THE MOON DUE TO ITS LACK OF AN ATOMOSPHERE

13 BIG MAMMA OUR SUN THE SUN’S RADIUS IS 432,288
IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING THERE IS NO WEATHERING OR EROSIN ON THE SUN DUE TO ITS HIGH TEMPS.

14 All done! Thanks for watching!!
