2. Who we are A co-curricular activity started in the fall of 2015
Groups of students who are interested in the trial process
Teachers who have debate, trial or theater experience
Attorneys who are friends of the school, either parents or alums, who have an interest in students learning about the trial process

3. What we do
Attend and participate in the St. Vincent Mock Trial symposium in the fall
Read and analyze a case that is prepared by the Pennsylvania Bar Association
Participate in the Statewide Mock Trial Competition that is held during late winter/early spring

4. How it works FOR THE STATE MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION:
Cases are published in the beginning of the second quarter, and students, advisers and lawyers meet to analyze the cases and decide on a strategy for prosecuting and defending the issues assigned
A team usually consists of six students:
A prosecuting attorney
A defense attorney
Three witnesses for the prosecution
Three witnesses for the defense

PAST STATE MOCK TRIAL CASES:
Did Taylor Edsel, a teenage arsonist actually burn down a car manufacturing plant?
Will Lilienthal Insurance, Inc. be forced to pay a settlement to cover the costs of a heinous injury to an individual on the Nature Habitat Preserve property?
Who is responsible for the high school athlete Jordan Simon’s death?
Is the Zillias real estate developer responsible for reckless homicide with the deaths of two people at a construction site following the collapse of a construction crane?

6. WHAT STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY
I liked the experience!! It was a lot of fun!
Mock trial pushed me to think critically and form well-organized arguments. I would highly recommend the activity to any and all interested.
