Overview – SDP Change Management
Why Do We Need It? Review of Industry Template Breakout Preview
3
Why Do We Need It? Change Management: A structured approach to transition individuals, teams, and organizations from a current state to a desired future state through risk evaluation, planning, communication and implementation An effective Change Management Plan is key to the success of any change, including the SDP An industry Change Management template was developed to assist the industry in managing this change, covering several key areas
4
Procedure / Program Impacts
Develop Utility SDP interface procedure Identify / update impacted Utility procedures (Engineering and others); streamline where possible Evaluate existing NRC, CAP and INPO commitments for relevance Walk through with Document Control / Records Group Review / update existing contracts and design interface agreements Review / update impacted software programs
5
Training / Qualifications
Identify / train site SMEs Complete Training Needs Analysis Develop and Conduct Engineer / Stakeholder training (using industry materials), including “gap” training (old vs. new process) Conversion to standard qualification Update of impacted Training documents (existing lesson plans, qualification cards, etc.)
6
Communications Identify change leaders
Site and Corporate Consider fleet/alliance meetings during implementation Over-communicate with: Upper management Engineers and Stakeholders QA, NRC resident, CFAMs, Training Records Management Distribute newsletters, updates
7
Risk Management Assign Engineering personnel to perform oversight of SDP (e.g., meeting observations, quality reviews, etc.) Perform review of change type screenings during initial implementation Periodic telecons with fleet / site management to discuss status and comments Implement industry set of Performance Indicators to track/monitor progress
8
Software Implementation
Develop project plan for implementing new industry standard software Obtain funding and set up contract Determine impacts on procedures / programs Develop plan for software training Develop risk mitigation plan for software implementation Develop plan for communication of software changes
9
Effectiveness Review / Monitoring
Develop assessment objectives to evaluate implementation effectiveness Perform a snapshot self assessment at site to evaluate implementation Periodic telecons with site/fleet management or other sites to discuss status and comments
10
Breakout Preview Review change management template and actual examples of Utility change management plans Solicit feedback and operating experience from other utilities regarding their implementation of the SDP Answer any specific questions relating to the implementation of the SDP
