2 Some things I’ve learned about God from being a Father

3 His Unconditional Love – Luke 15:11-32
As sinners we wonder how God could love us We’ve all done bad things – Romans 3:10, 23 We’ve all been rebellious at times – Isaiah 53:6 The Prodigal son is a story about God’s unconditional love – Luke 15:11-32

4 His Unconditional Love – Luke 15:11-32
Fathers know what it means to love unconditionally As much as we wish our children were perfect, they’re not Even so, we never stop loving them - they’re our children! Nothing we do could ever change how God love’s us!

5 His Unlimited Patience – 1 Timothy 1:12-16
As strugglers we wonder just how patient God is Not only do we do bad things, we do them repeatedly – Romans 7:14-24 Yet the Bible tells us that God has unlimited patience – Timothy 1:12-16; 2 Peter 3:9

6 His Unlimited Patience – 1 Timothy 1:12-16
Fathers realize the necessity for unlimited patience There are so many things as a parent that require patience Without patience, you could not survive as a parent! God understands our nature and is patient with us – Psalm 103:13-14

7 His Undeserved Grace – Ephesians 2:1-9
As recipients of God’s grace we feel so unworthy How can God be so gracious to a wretched sinner like me? 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 What have any of us done to “deserve” such blessed lives? Psalm 8:3-9; Matthew 5:45

8 His Undeserved Grace – Ephesians 2:1-9
Fathers understand the joy of being gracious We want more than anything to give our children the very best in life! – Matthew 7:9-11 That’s exactly how our heavenly Father feels towards us! – 1 Timothy 6:17; James 1:17

9 His Unprecedented Salvation – Romans 5:6-8
As Christians we stand in awe of the Gospel! That God would send His Son to die for our sins – John 3:16 That Jesus would willingly give up his life for us! – Philippians 2:5-8; John 15:13; 1 John 3:16

10 His Unprecedented Salvation – Romans 5:6-8
Fathers too, would do anything to save their children They would sacrifice everything for their children They would lay down their lives for their children Fathers are worthy of our honor!

11 The greatest way we can Honor our fathers is by being the best Christian we can be!
