Credit Hour Progression
Data Point 1
4
Credit Hours Attempted vs. Earned
100%=earned all hours enrolled; 0%=earned zero hours These numbers do NOT include DE
5
Full-time and Part-time Fully Successful
How many Nursing/AH programs only require part time for some terms?
6
Graduates Data Point #2
7
Graduates Who Received Pell Grants
This lines up closely with our enrollment trends. Pell is not the “Great divide” of success at JSCC
8
Graduates by Gender Closely in line with overall population
9
Graduates by Race/Ethnicity
10
Enrollment vs. Graduation by Ethnicity
Graduates Minority students make up such a small part of our population, and there is an even larger gap in their success versus white students. Enrollment #’s do include DE students.
11
Fall to Fall Retention Data Point #3
12
Fall to Fall Retention by Gender
This is the % of students who were enrolled in one fall term and returned for another. This would not be as concerning if we graduated 50% of our students each year. Where do the other 2500 go? What happens to them?
13
Fall to Fall Retention by Race/Ethnicity
We have a small population of minority students to begin with, and we retain them at much lower rates. WHY? When we look at how many minority students we retain (as one category) we are retaining around 30% year to year.
14
Learning Support/Co-req Labs
Data Point #4
15
Co-requisite Labs/Gateway Courses Completion and Retention
College Level w/Labs Writing Lab: 55.86% Successful 69.67% Retained for Spring 2016 Reading Lab: 74.77% Successful 71.73% Retained for Spring 2016 Math Lab: (0530 & 0030 combined) 75.3% Successful 69.4% Retained for Spring 2016 ENGL 1010: 44.04% A-C Grade 69.79% Retained for Spring 2016 College Success: 71.03% A-C grade 71.73% Retained for Spring 2016 Math 1030 & 1530: 60.6% A-C Grade 69.5% Retained for Spring 2016 *Retention is ALL students in these courses. NOT just those who were successful. More to come on this at a later time.
16
Non-Returning Students
Enrolled Fall 2015 but not Spring 2016
17
Non-Returning Student Surveys
How satisfied were you with the support shown from JSCC faculty and staff? 40.4% Very Satisfied 42.6% Satisfied 17% Dissatisfied Which of the following services could JSCC have provided that may have helped you return to the college this term? More schedule options: 29% More financial assistance: 29% Better academic advising/coaching: 15.7% 855 students did not graduate in December (and were not DE) and did not return from fall to spring. We sent them all a survey via . We have so far had over 90 responses (more than 10%).
18
Non-Returning Student Surveys
What was the MAIN reason you did not return to JSCC this term to further your education? Took a new job/position that required more of my time/energy…: 13% Financial constraints: 14% Family situation, but I plan to return in the future: 13% I completed the courses I needed to meet my educational goals and did not need to return to JSCC another term: 25% I transferred to another community college or university: 15% We will begin doing this survey every semester
19
What’s Next? Data Team: Core Team:
