Jan 2007 doc.: IEEE /0xxxr0 Feb 2007 Abstract In London meeting, one of the questions about FEC on Sync Burst is whether there is a proper FEC on PSDU so that make the performance of Sync Burst and PSDU matched with each other? We do some work on this issue and hope to resolve this problem. In this file we will show the design and simulation results of PSDU and compared it with Sync Burst performance. 1) The Original 208-bit PSDU was added by 4-bit CRC and 4 Tail zero bit, now the number of total bits are 216 bits; 2) Then it was fed into ½ Convolutional Coder, the output are 432bits; 3) To make the PSDU not too long, it was punctured to 384bits(40ms); 4) Finally the punctured PSDU data was modulated and transmitted. Simulation Condition and Results (4/4)
Jan 2007 doc.: IEEE /0xxxr0 Feb 2007 Simulation Condition and Results (4/4) From the Simulation Results, we can see that In the baseline, where the Sync Burst and PSDU are not protected with FEC, their performance difference is about 2~5dB. After apply FEC on both Sync Burst and PSDU, their performance difference is about 0.5dB. The performance gap was greatly reduced. After apply FEC on both Sync Burst and PSDU, their performance was improved by about 4~7dB. FEC on Sync Burst and PSDU also provide Error Detection capability on both of them, and error detection is very important for the WRAN to know whether he had decoded the received information correctly or not.
