Guidance Note 5 (updated for introduction of revised scheme March 2002) Academic Staff Appraisal Annual Process Academic staff scheme (between March and September) University objectives and priorities are inserted into the documentation Dean inserts School objectives & priorities into document. SMT considers resources AppraisER issues Appraisal documentation to AppraisEE AppraisEE completes Parts 1 & 2 and gives to AppraisER AppraisER responds to completed form and returns copy to AppraisEE Preparation Preparation APPRAISAL DISCUSSION AppraisER completes and signs Parts 3a & 3b and gives to AppraisEE AppraisEE reads and signs both parts, also cover sheet. AppraisEE keeps copies and returns original to AppraisER AppraisER copies cover sheet and Parts 3a & 3b and gives to Designated Person Informal progress reviews conducted of actions planned (formal review conducted at next year’s appraisal) School Management Team reviews appraisal process and staff development needs and actions Dean incorporates actions into School planning University planning informed by School planning s/dw/acadapp.ppt
