COMMUNITY SERVICE ENDORSEMENT Requirements: Grade 9 – 10 hours Grade 10 – 20 hours Grade 11 & 12 – 25 hours each Students must complete the minimum number of documented and approved community service hours yearly for a minimum total of 80 hours. *The tracking form and student documentation forms must be submitted to your grade level counselor by the last day of school. Community service hours completed over the summer will count toward the following school year.

College credit is earned at a reduced financial cost Final grades are recorded on both the high school and college transcripts Magnet partners with LSUS, Northwestern, & LA Tech One dual enrollment class may be funded by the district for students who have never taken a dual enrollment class Additional information and an up-to-date list of dual enrollment classes can be found on the Junior Mustangs website. Acceptance of credits through dual enrollment is at the discretion of each college.

Courses taught in high school at a college level Exams are offered late spring for approximately $94 College credit is determined by each college Score Reporting - one free score report sent to the college designated on test answer document AP Scoring: 5 = extremely well qualified 4 = well qualified 3 = qualified 2 = possibly qualified 1 = no recommendation One AP exam may be funded by the district for first-time test takers Additional information and an up-to-date list of AP classes can be found on the Junior Mustangs website.

A computer-based credit by exam opportunity Introductory college-level exams in select subject areas A score of 50% or better on a CLEP exam correlates closely with college readiness; however, the required score for earning CLEP credit varies by exam   Select CLEP exams are offered mid-December and mid-May at a cost of $85 each (upon teacher recommendation) Exams are 90 minutes in length Score Reporting - one free score report sent to the college designated during test registration One CLEP test may be funded by the district for first-time test takers Additional information can be found on the Junior Mustangs website. Acceptance of CLEP credits is at the discretion of each college.

25 PSAT/NMSQT Stands for Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test The practice test for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Registration began August 28 for Juniors Costs $16 cash, check, or money order Test booklets are limited Administered on October 11

26 ASVAB Stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
Measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success Designed to measure aptitudes in four domains: Verbal, Math, Science and Technical, and Spatial Offered as part of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program which provides tools to help students learn more about career exploration and planning Administered to all juniors on September 14 free of charge

College Readiness presentation Fair – Representatives from local, state, & out-of-state colleges and universities, military recruiters, college/career planning organizations, and test prep organizations will be on site

38 ACT Prep night Tuesday, December 5, at 6:00 p.m.
Topics will include: what to expect on the ACT, test taking tips/strategies, and much more Score reports from the November ACT Practice Test will be distributed and discussed Local test prep organizations will be on-site In the meantime, check out the Junior Mustangs Website for information on test prep organizations and websites.

Health & PE credits must be completed by the end of the summer starting the senior year Preferred prior to junior year A one-time Extracurricular Athletics credit may be available for Magnet student athletes See your coach or counselor for details Correspondence Course Request Forms must be completed for students wishing to take non-core classes off campus Prior approval is required Core classes must be taken at Magnet
