7 CONCLUSION The above indicators show some evidence of fertility decline in Nigeria Accurate population information and statistics are indispensable to study how demographic trends are affected by, and have an impact on social, economic and environmental factors. Capacity building of demographers and statisticians must be accorded highest priority
