Genre: Non Fiction Theme: Self-image Summary: This book shows children every one is different, and it reassures children it is okay to be different. Activity: Teacher could have each child bring to class different recipes from home to share with the class. What makes this book multicultural? This book is multicultural because it helps children understand families are different, thing they like to do are different and aptitudes are also different. In this book they feel being different ia alright.

3 On Your Mark, Get, Set, Go! Publisher: Leonard Kessler Series: 1972
Genre: Fiction Theme: All –Animal Olympics Summary: This book helps children understand everyone has a talent no matter how big or small you are. Worm in the story was so small Owl said he could not do anything but he won the race for his team. Activity: The teacher could plan a race on the playground with small and larger children. What makes this book multicultural? This is a multicultural book because it shows all the animals had a talent it did not matter if they were big or small.

Publisher: Verna Aardema Series: 1992 Genre: Fiction African Forklore Theme: Consequences of lying to other people. Summary: This book demonstrates how one rumor can get started and from one person or in this case animal to another the rumor changes and changes until someone gets hurt in this case mother Owls baby died. Activity: The teacher could tell one student to whisper something they knew was not true, then have another student tell it to another until all the students have told the thing that was not true. The teacher then asks each child to tell what they were told by the time it reaches the last child the children will say that is not what I said. What makes this book multicultural? This book is multicultural because it describes different animals telling different stories and they were all lies.
