COUNTRY CUISINE For this project, you are going to be exploring the cuisine of your country. First EVERYONE needs to complete the following worksheet and upload it to your wiki page in your teacher's digital portfolio. This is a HOMEWORK assignment. When finished, also print the document for ease of use. You may find this web site, Food By Country , useful in answering some of the questions. Worksheet Food Presentations.docx Second, each country will need a visual to use for their presentation. Your group will compile a PowerPoint for your presentation day. The information on your worksheet must be included in this visual. Each person will choose or be assigned one topic to research and find pictures for the PowerPoint. Your pictures must be uploaded to your country's picture page so that the PowerPoint can be made from the collection of your country's pictures.

Third, to prepare for your food presentation, select your country from the following documents and read the description of your presentation. Use this document to plan and organize your job for your presentation. You may volunteer for one of these topics to research. You will also volunteer for the job you would like to do for the presentation. This is a group grade so choose the job you are best suited for and that will benefit the entire group. Your presentation date will be given to you by Mrs. Sulkey. The date is also on the Pittsburgh/Intro power point. What are the mealtime customs for your country? Describe a typical meal using their traditional foods as examples: Breakfast: Lunch: Dinner: Snacks: Name at least two “famous” dishes from your country. Are these foods commonly eaten in our American cuisine? Have you personally ever tasted these foods? What are some types of cooking utensils or equipment used in this cuisine? What are the traditional holidays or celebrations for your country and what foods are served at these events? As a visitor to your country, you will be dining in restaurants in your city. Describe what your experience may be like. Will you be able to read the menu? What are some dishes that may be included on your menu? How expensive will it be for you as a visitor?

DAY 1 : Review of kitchen procedures and safety, Demo of recipes and organization of jobs in group DAY 2 and Day 3: Lab Days- Prepare foods for sampling, practice food presentation DAY 4: Presentation of country’s cuisine to entire Talbot’s Abroad class. Hindi and Arabic only need 2 – 3 days depending on number of kids in group.

YOU SHOULD BE KNOWLEDABLE ABOUT THE FOODS OF YOUR
COUNTRY AND HAVE COMPLETED THE FOOD WORKSHEET QUESTIONS AND UPLOADED IT TO YOUR WIKI BEFORE YOU REPORT TO FCS. THEY WILL BE GRADED BY THE END OF YOUR FIRST DAY. IF NOT DONE, THEY WILL BE A 0. ALL FOOD RESEARCH TOPICS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TURNED INTO YOUR TEACHER BY THE DUE DATE. YOU WILL DO THAT SECTION OF THE PRESENTATION FOR YOUR GROUP. YOUR PICTURES SHOULD BE UPLOADED TO THE CLASSROOM WIKI FOR COMPILING THE POWER POINT FOR YOUR PRESENTATION. ALL POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS SHOULD BE FINISHED WHEN YOU REPORT TO FCS FOR YOUR COUNTRY’S FOOD PRESENTATION
